Personality answers:

Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Out of everyone he’s ever known, Herman Balsa has forced the most change on Alva. Being resurrected by the Eye of Darkness only made Alva more certain in what he believed in, but Herman helped shape him for good and for ill. He helped push Alva out of his comfort zone and motivated him in his research, and he unfortunately also was a key factor in Alva becoming bitter and pessimistic, shaping his view of people. It was Herman who caused Alva to view people as fickle with how he claimed that Alva was the one who ruined his life, so there would always be an inescapable bitterness even though he also pushed Alva to be his best and brightest and brought out the warmest, most caring side of him. He was his best friend and Alva loved him dearly, and after his death he grappled with his feelings for the man. He hated him and loved him in equal measures, and all of his actions after Herman’s death would be shaped by their friendship. Even after so many years, he still can’t completely erase his fondness for Herman, and still remembers him and everything he’s done for Alva.
What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?
He died about it.

More seriously, the lowest moment of his life was either Herman’s death or Luca selling off his manuscripts. On the one hand, Herman was the most important person in his life and he grieved him deeply, though he tried to pick up the pieces of his life and considered many ways he could do that. He considered stepping back from researching, traveling, maybe starting his own family, but he stayed at the university and held lectures and demonstrations and would eventually meet Luca. He didn’t try to defend himself at all from the accusations thrown at him, simply refusing to yield or explain anything at all, and that’s likely what led to their final confrontation being so explosive. He was just passive, accepting the insults and accusations thrown his way, when defending himself or explaining his history with Herman could have changed things. If he had simply tried to talk to Luca, it’s entirely possible he wouldn’t have died and would have continued being an inventor and professor people respected. But he didn’t, simply digging his heels in stubbornly and refusing to say a single thing, deciding that people and the public weren’t worth arguing with because they would always believe whatever they wanted anyways.

What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
He doesn't care much about appearance—he’s well aware that he’s grotesque compared to how he used to look, and that his prior self might be considered to attractive to some, but his appearance is entirely irrelevant to his life. The most he does for “primping” is covering his scars in bandages (quite haphazardly), and he foregoes dressing in fine clothing or maintaining his hair the way he did when he was still alive. His body is just a vessel, and he’ll do the bare minimum to stay functional and maintain decency and decorum, but he doesn't care what people think about his looks or care to make himself more or less attractive. His mind is the most important part, not his appearance. Very classically a nerd in that way.
What is your character's biggest ambition at their current canon point? To what lengths would they go to see it to fruition?
Alva is now a devout follower of the Eye of Darkness, so his current ambitions are following the orders of his god and ensuring that everything goes as intended. He preaches to lost souls who need their own savior, and he guides the members of his flock. There’s not really anything that he won’t do to see his god’s orders through, either—he’s already a dead man, and so are the other believers in the Eye of Darkness, so everything he’s doing is already a shock to society. He’s still as pragmatic and cautious as he was in life, but that just makes him more thorough instead of being a limit on what he’s willing to do. If he has to take a life with his own two hands for his god, he will. If he has to take several lives, he will, because he believes he has seen the truth of the world and that everything he does is for the greater good. No sacrifice he has to make is too great, and he doesn’t really have any ambitions of his own. Truthfully, he has everything he wants now—peace and solitude—so fulfilling his god’s wishes is the least he can do for everything he was given by the Eye of Darkness.

Inventory: • Modified Staff, imbued with the powers of the Eye of Darkness and further modified by Alva. This allows him to manipulate the electromagnetic fields he generates more easily, and it’s also shaped like a kitty, which is important.

• Eye of Darkness pendant

•Bandage roll

Powers/Abilities: • REBIRTH | He was brought back to life, and fundamentally changed. He’s described as being something more close to divine than human, with his mind a serene void, and likely does not have to worry much about things that might kill him so long as he’s still blessed by the Eye of Darkness. This rebirth also resulted in physical changes, the distinctive mark of followers of the Eye of Darkness being, well, their eyes, with dark gray sclera and yellow irises with cat-like pupils. He is also slightly stronger than an average person, and can move without causing any sound.

• ZIPPY ZAPS | Granted power by the Eye of Darkness in a very literal sense, Alva can manipulate electricity freely. He can control the flow of electricity around him, whether it be ambient or through wiring and devices, and he can look through the devices in instances of things like monitoring systems, doing some reverse snooping. He can also sense where hidden devices may be, as long as they’re connected to a source of electricity. He can also follow the electrical currents to effectively “teleport”, though he cannot pass through walls with this ability.

• LOREN(T)Z FORCE | His manipulation of electricity can also affect living beings—he can blast ‘em like your typical lightning wielding sort of guy, but he can also generate and manipulate electromagnetic fields. Those he blasts or who touch a device that he has imbued with his power will become a part of that field, and he can use that charge to stun and pull or push with the opposite polarity.

Player Goals: My goals are currently pretty loose, as I’m usually a flying by the seat of my pants sort of player, but overall my goal is to get Alva to open up to others and forge new relationships. He’s been burned by the people closest to him again and again, and he’s very jaded and cynical about the people around him while still deep down acknowledging that there are people out there who are brilliant, impressive, and good. There’s a part of him that’s afraid to be close to people and I want to pry it out of him.

Also, I think it’s funny to bring someone who’s canon dislikes include both PR and public opinion to a game with a reputation mechanic. He’ll hate it and it’ll be a great time for me.
